Traveling the Silk Roads

Instructor: Assistant Curator Jason Steuber $24/$36 Limit 40, R! Active from ancient times, the Silk Roads linked China with both the
East and West as images and ideas traveled along these trade routes.
This two-part course by Assistant Curator Jason Steuber examines the
development and spread of Buddhism along the Silk Roads as it relates to
the Museum's renowned Asian collections. The first session lays a
historical foundation for a subsequent exploration of the collection
reinstallation, The Glory of the Law: Treasures of Early Chinese
Buddhist Sculpture. Through lectures and gallery tours, participants
will learn about the traditions and innovations that transformed Chinese
culture during the 5th through 11th centuries. Course syllabus and
suggested readings list will be provided prior to the first session.
